JOSINA MACHEL (Maputo, Mozambique, 1976)
Activist and ambassador, she founded the Kuhluka Movement to represent the millions of women who have suffered violence at the hands of men. Daughter of the first president of the Republic of Mozambique, Samora Moisés Machel, and of the former Minister of Education, Graça Machel, she was violently attacked by her partner in 2015. As a result of that aggression, in which she lost an eye, Josina found the strength to fight even harder against the inequalities existing between men and women. Her organisation, Kuhluka Movement, fights gender-based violence, focussing on the rights of the victims and of the survivors of this type of abuse.

We give many women the opportunity, the courage to talk, in the knowledge that they will be listened to, and believed.
